For 28 years, the Berlin Wall stood as a stark symbol of oppression. This absorbing history of the Cold War’s most infamous icon introduces viewers to the families that it divided and the people who died trying to cross it. During that time, East Berliners suffered under the Stasi secret police, but a reform movement that blossomed in the city’s Protestant churches helped bring down the wall. Interviewees include President George H.W. Bush, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl. Monday, June 28, at 10 p.m., PBS; check local listings
