Gossip: Al and Tipper Gore
The Gores are calling it quits after 40 years of marriage.
Al and Tipper Gore announced this week that they are calling it quits after 40 years of marriage. The Gores called the decision to separate “mutual and mutually supportive” and “made together following a process of long and careful consideration.” The Gores said that they did not intend to comment any further on the matter. Gore, who was Bill Clinton’s vice president for eight years, narrowly lost the presidency to Republican George W. Bush in 2000. At the Democratic National Convention that year, the Gores exchanged a long, passionate kiss on stage apparently designed to show the strength of their marriage.
