Manhattan: A restaurant for every occasion

During his latest jaunt to New York, Tom Sietsema took in these three restaurants.

When planning a jaunt to New York City, my biggest question is always where to eat, said Tom Sietsema in The Washington Post. For a recent “72-hour eat-athon,” I needed to find ideal restaurants for three purposes: a celebration, a good meal that wouldn’t “break the bank,” and a bite before a concert.

Eleven Madison Park A celebration indeed. Chef Daniel Humm’s dishes include sweetbreads, formed into crisp golden marbles, and “some of the best” roasted lamb I’ve ever tasted. 11 Madison Ave., (212) 889-0905

Locanda Verde After stints in the city’s best kitchens, chef Andrew Carmellini has landed downtown in Tribeca, “serving rustic riffs on Italian food.” Start with decadent, Piedmont-style beef tartare, move to plump roasted scallops with fiery cauliflower, and don’t skip dessert. 377 Greenwich St., (212) 925-3797
