The Colorado puppet cleavage ban
The irreverent musical "Avenue Q" is going to evangelical hot-bed Colorado Springs -- without a publicity poster revealing a slutty puppet's decolletage
A Colorado advertising company has refused to display a poster for the national tour of the Broadway musical "Avenue Q" -- because it features an eyeful of puppet cleavage. The bus-shelter advertisement was created to announce March performances of the show in Colorado Springs, a town that is home to so many churches it has been called the "Evangelical Vatican." But an advertising executive says the poster, which features the bikini-clad torso of the Muppet-like "Lucy the Slut" character, isn't appropriate. "It's the fact that it's cleavage," says Jeff Moore of Lamar Advertising. Is Lucy the Slut too racy for a devout town, or is it silly to worked up over a puppet in a swimsuit?
