Diane Keaton’s solo act
Keaton isn't involved with anybody now, and wants to keep it that way. She is content with a personal life that revolves around her two adopted children.
Diane Keaton has a full and busy life, says Johanna Schneller in More. “Except for one little area,” the Oscar-winning actress allows. “M-e-n.” But she says that suits her just fine. Keaton, 63, has never married, though she has dated complicated men such as Woody Allen, Warren Beatty, and Al Pacino. She’s not involved with anybody now, and wants to keep it that way. “It’s a huge part of life that’s missing, yeah—but I don’t miss it.” She acknowledges that the realm of intimacy has always confused and even scared her. “Biologically, you can’t help but go toward it. It’s too exciting.” Then she shakes her head. “Ugh! I don’t want that excitement. Too scary. I see it as a danger zone.” With her acting career going full steam and a memoir in the works, Keaton says she’s content with a personal life that revolves around her two adopted children, an 8-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter. She’s been especially fascinated by how her daughter, Dexter, deals with the opposite sex. “With Dexter, it’s all about boys right now. Could she be more different from me? She goes to them, talks to them. She makes dates. It’s refreshing, not waiting for someone to pick you. Which seems to be the story of my life regarding men.”
