One winemaker’s many Pinot Noirs
California winemaker Merry Edwards is known for her Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs.
Merry Edwards is a California winemaker known for her half-dozen distinctive Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs, said Bill Daley in the Chicago Tribune. Each comes from a different vineyard, reflecting a unique terroir—a combination of soil type, amount of exposure to the sun, and elevation. Edwards says her goal is always to create “a wine that’s smooth and luscious in the mouth,” yet that tastes distinctly different from the others. We recently tasted three of her premium Pinots.
Meredith Estate 2006 ($54)?

Klopp Ranch 2006 ($57)
Smooth throughout, with a long finish and “touches of mushroom, earth, and berry.”
Coopersmith 2006 ($54)
The darkest wine of the trio, it is also subtler than Klopp or Meredith, and tastes of dark berries and red fruits.
