Conan O’Brien succeeded Jay Leno as the host of The Tonight Show this week, showing a film of him frantically making his way across the country from New York to Los Angeles and joking about his timing. “I’m on a last-place network, I moved to a state that’s bankrupt, and The Tonight Show is sponsored by General Motors,” said O’Brien, who takes a seat previously occupied by Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, and Leno.
