Gossip: Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien
Jay Leno will start a new program with NBC after Conan O'Brien takes over the Tonight Show.
For months, NBC had worried that the immensely popular Jay Leno would start a new talk show on a rival network after his Tonight Show contract ended this summer. This week, the network announced that instead Leno will stay on board as the host of a daily program to be aired at 10 p.m.—in prime time. The show will have a format similar to Tonight, which is being taken over by Conan O’Brien, and will retain many of Leno’s signature bits.
