GOOD DAY FOR: High hopes, as a British gadget show this weekend, Stuff Live, hopes that the latest high-tech goodies will make visitors forget their financial dire straits. One of the new items is a $10,000 “Star Wars”-inspired hover chair, which uses magnets to float in the air. “The sensation you feel as you lie back and close your eyes is totally different—like floating on a cloud,” said a Stuff Live spokesman. BAD DAY FOR: Keeping heads above water, as at least 7.5 million U.S. homeowners owe more on their mortgage than their house is worth, a situation known as negative equity, or being “underwater.” Nevada, where home prices have sunk 30 percent in the past 12 months, has been the hardest hit.
