GOOD DAY FOR: Power and money, as the average paycheck at the local power company has risen 4.8 percent annually over the past three years, while real pay is falling for most other U.S. workers. BAD DAY FOR: Newsroom morale, after McClatchy, the No. 3 U.S. newspaper company, announced 1,400 job cuts, or about 10 percent of its work force.
