The return of Imus?
The week's news at a glance.
New York City
Don Imus has paved the way for his return to radio, four months after CBS fired him for directing racially charged insults at members of Rutgers University’s women’s basketball team. Lawyers for Imus and CBS said this week that they had resolved all outstanding disputes, including the amount CBS would pay Imus to terminate his contract. Under the contract, Imus was due $40 million at the time of his firing. CBS indicated it had paid Imus less than half that amount. Imus was fired after he disparaged the appearance of the Rutgers women, calling them “nappy-headed hos.” One of the Rutgers players, Kia Vaughn, this week sued Imus and CBS for defaming her reputation. Imus is reportedly in talks with other companies about returning to the air.
