Oslo is the world’s most expensive city, according to the latest Economist Intelligence Unit cost of living survey. The survey takes into account the price of groceries and other household goods, utilities, restaurant meals, and taxi rides. Eight of the top 10 most expensive cities were European: Paris, Copenhagen, and London took the next three spots behind the Norwegian capital. Tokyo has been dropping steadily, from No. 1 in 2005 to No. 7 this year. The most expensive American city was New York, which placed 28th, followed by Chicago at 36 and Los Angeles at 41.
