Alleged terror plot
The week's news at a glance.
Odense, Denmark
Danish police have charged seven Muslim men with plotting a terrorist attack. The men, all Danish citizens, had gathered materials “to build explosives in connection with the preparation of a terror act,” said Lars Findsen, the head of the Danish Security Intelligence Service. Other officials said evidence suggested the target was in Denmark. The country raised its threat level early this year, after the publication of Mohammed cartoons in a Danish paper caused rioting throughout the Muslim world. Abu Bashar, imam at a mosque in Odense, the city where the men were arrested, said he expected terrorists to strike. “Osama Bin Laden said in a message three years ago that he will punish the countries that are in Iraq,” Abu Bashar said. “Denmark is on the list.”
