Nurses cheated on exams
The week's news at a glance.
Manila
A cheating scandal could threaten one of the Philippines’ major exports: nurses. The government confirmed this week that hundreds of nurses cheated on their accreditation exams in June. The president of the Philippine Nurses Association, who has since been forced out of office, allegedly leaked the exam questions to his students ahead of time. The Philippine Senate said the “culture of cheating” must be stamped out and credibility restored, or all Filipino nurses would be under suspicion. The Philippines is the world’s largest source of nurses. Thousands of Filipino nurses take up practice in the U.S. every year.
