Salt Lake City
A Southwest Airline pilot was arrested shortly before take-off last week, on suspicions that he was drunk. Carl Fulton, 41, was about to serve as co-pilot aboard a passenger jet set to take off for Phoenix with 123 passengers aboard. But after security screeners reported smelling alcohol on Fulton’s breath, airport police boarded the plane and detained him. Southwest placed Fulton on leave pending an investigation. If convicted of attempting to operate a common carrier while impaired, Fulton could face up to 15 years in prison.
