MP killed in public
The week's news at a glance.
Ajaccio, France
A member of the Corsican parliament was gunned down this week in front of passengers at the airport in Ajaccio, Corsica. Robert Feliciaggi, a center-right politician who owned casinos in Africa and the French Riviera, was killed in a professional hit by a hooded gunman who escaped in a waiting car. Several of Feliciaggi’s business associates have been assassinated in recent weeks in a similar fashion. Police said it’s unclear whether the killings are a personal or business vendetta, or are related to Corsican politics. Feliciaggi was a member of the French ruling party and an opponent of the Corsican separatists who want independence from France.
