Gary Glitter arrested
The week's news at a glance.
Vung Tau, Vietnam
Former British glam rocker Gary Glitter was arrested in Vietnam this week on suspicion of child molestation. Five girls, the youngest age 12, said they had had sex with Glitter, 61, in his home. Glitter said he was just teaching the girls to speak English and did not know how young they were. “They all told me that they were older than 20,” he said. Glitter served time in Britain in 1999 for possessing child pornography. He later went to Cambodia but was expelled for unknown reasons in 2002, and now lives in Vietnam. If found guilty of child rape, he could face a firing squad.
