Boy dies at Epcot

Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
A 4-year-old boy died this week after passing out on the Mission: Space ride at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park. The attraction, which simulates a rocket trip to Mars, is among the park’s most popular, and most intense. Riders get motion-sickness bags, and seven have been sent to the hospital for chest pains, nausea, or fainting since it opened in 2003. Police said the boy who died, Daudi Bamuwamye of Pennsylvania, met the minimum height requirement of 44 inches, but was “limp and unresponsive” when the ride ended. Disney closed the ride pending an investigation.
