British soldiers have been ordered to wear underwear when visiting the tailor, the Ministry of Defense said this week. The order was given in January, after several soldiers went “commando” to their uniform fittings. “Some of the contractors complained about the embarrassment that causes, not surprisingly,” a ministry spokesman said, “so instructions were issued to all three services just reminding personnel to dress appropriately and modestly.” A senior officer told the London Sun that he didn’t think the soldiers had been deliberately exposing themselves. “It’s always been the macho thing not to wear underpants,” he said.
