Still hot for teacher
The week's news at a glance.
Seattle
Ex-teacher Mary Kay Letourneau is marrying the former pupil she raped when he was in her sixth-grade class, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported this week. Letourneau, 43, was a married mother of four when she began having sex with Vili Fualaau, then 12. She went to prison for six months in 1997, pregnant with the boy’s child, and was promptly sent back for 7 ½ years more after being caught having sex with him again. The couple now plans an April wedding, according to an online bridal registry. A friend, Noel Soriano, said Letourneau deserved to be happy after facing public scorn for years. “She’s not a pedophile,” he said. “She’s a Vili-phile.”
