Canadas pizza scandal

Canada’s immigration minister, Judy Sgro, resigned last week after a restaurant owner said she had helped him avoid deportation in exchange for free pizza and garlic bread. Harjit Singh, an illegal immigrant from India, said he personally asked Sgro for help in getting legal residency last year. Sgro, who was then running for re-election to Parliament, allegedly promised to pull some strings if Singh delivered free food to her campaign office. He claims that Sgro reneged after being accused of helping another campaign worker—a Romanian stripper—become a legal resident, and that she then had him deported to “save her job.” Sgro has called Singh’s claims “outrageous fabrications.”
