Canadian groups claiming to represent 10 million people this week called on their government to ban Internet pharmacies from exporting drugs to the U.S. American politicians have been urging the Bush administration to lift restrictions on importing prescription drugs from Canada, where they are 30 percent cheaper, to help lower the cost of health care in the U.S. But demand from the U.S., which has eight times Canada’s population, could cause shortages and price increases in Canada, said Louise Binder of the Best Medicines Coalition. “Canadians would pay the price for our government allowing the U.S. to raid our medicine cabinet,” she said.
