Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, railed against the U.S. in two major speeches last week. He said the U.S. wanted to destroy the “new Islamic awakening” that was rising across the world. To prevent such a resurgence, the U.S. is seeking to dominate all Muslim lands. “The arrogant power of America, this absolute manifestation of depravity, is spreading wickedness from all its fingers in the Islamic region today,” Khamenei said. “The Islamic world should unanimously stand against America’s arrogant aggression anywhere and in whatever form. No leniency, flexibility, or retreat will reduce the unquenchable thirst of the arrogant.”
