SARS is back

Beijing
China reported four suspected cases of SARS this week, including one reported death. The dead woman is believed to have gotten SARS from her daughter, a medical student who may have caught the virus while working at the Chinese National Institute of Virology. The cases are the first reported since the major outbreak of the respiratory disease last year, which killed more than 800 people. This time, the World Health Organization said, China reacted quickly to halt any spread of the virus. More than 600 people are being isolated, and public-health workers will check the temperatures of all railway and air passengers from Beijing and the surrounding province.
