Madrid
Spanish officials have purchased a 1,300-pound safe to lock up the divorce papers of Crown Prince Felipe’s bride, Madrid’s El Mundo reported this week. Letizia Ortiz is a commoner who used to be married to a novelist. When her engagement to the future king was announced, newspapers began trolling her ex-husband’s books for lurid insights into her sex life and her failed marriage. To prevent any potentially embarrassing details from leaking to the press, officials in the regional Madrid government bought a strongbox and instructed a local court to keep the divorce papers there. The wedding is planned for May.
