Murder over baseball
The week's news at a glance.
Los Angeles
A bitter sports rivalry turned deadly this week when a San Francisco Giants fan was shot and killed outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, after an argument over the game. Mark Allen Antenorcruz, 25, was cheering the Giants 6-4 win as he and family members crossed paths with another family. An argument broke out, and a man from the other family retrieved a .25-caliber pistol out of an SUV, shot Antenorcruz once in the chest, then sped off with his relatives. Police detained two suspects and were searching for another. “You can’t think anywhere is safe anymore for your kids,” said James Vega, the victim’s stepfather. “You can’t even go to a ballgame.” Vega said Antenorcruz wasn’t wearing any Giants apparel because he “didn’t want any trouble.”
