Two women belonging to Chechen extremist groups detonated suicide bombs at the entrance to an outdoor music festival in suburban Moscow last week, killing 15 and injuring more than 50. Rebels in Chechnya, a southwestern province, have been at war with Moscow over their demand that the mostly Muslim region be given its independence. After the carnage, 20,000 fans cheered the deafening rock music. “I didn’t even know what happened,” said 16-year-old Kristina Ivanovna.
