Suspect hangs himself
The week's news at a glance.
Fayetteville, N.C.
An Army Special Forces soldier charged with killing his wife hanged himself in his cell this week. Former master sergeant William Wright, 36, was one of four soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina who were believed to have killed their wives last summer. Three of the men—Wright and Sgts. Rigoberto Nieves and Brandon Floyd—were members of the Special Forces, and had recently returned from the war in Afghanistan. Nieves and Floyd also committed suicide. The cluster of killings prompted Army counselors to urge soldiers to seek help if they were having marital problems after returning from combat.
