A Houston dentist was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week for running over her husband with her Mercedes-Benz and killing him. Clara Harris, a former beauty queen, discovered that her husband, orthodontist David Harris, was cheating on her with his receptionist last July. She testified that she tried to win him back, hiring a personal trainer, changing her hair, and scheduling breast-enlargement surgery. Then she caught the lovers holding hands in the hotel where the Harrises had married on Valentine’s Day 10 years earlier. Moments later, Clara Harris ran over her husband in the parking lot, at least twice, while his 17-year-old daughter watched helplessly in the passenger seat. “She stepped on the accelerator and went straight for him,” the daughter testified.
