Two more murderous sprees
The week's news at a glance.
Tucson, Ariz.
A failing student at the University of Arizona’s nursing school hunted down three female professors in a class building this week, before turning one of his five handguns on himself, said police. Robert S. Flores Jr., a Gulf War veteran, had long been “an obnoxious jerk,” said a fellow student. The incident occurred two days after a shooting spree in rural Oklahoma that left two people dead and eight wounded. Police in that state said 18-year-old Daniel Fears snapped when a neighbor chastised him for driving recklessly. Fears shot the man and his two-year-old daughter, then shot two other neighbors before heading down the highway, firing at random people along the way. He was apprehended after crashing his pickup truck.
