A Catholic archbishop who got married in a Moonie mass wedding ceremony has published a book in which he says he was brainwashed. The 72-year-old Emmanuel Milingo, a Zambian archbishop, left the Vatican last year to marry Maria Sung, a 43-year-old Korean woman chosen for him by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. “It was all so strange,” he says in the memoir Fished Out of the Mud, co-written with an Italian journalist. “It was like a strange dream.” After the Vatican threatened to excommunicate him, Milingo left his wife and rejoined the Catholic church. He now lives in seclusion in Vatican City.
