A word from bin Laden
The week's news at a glance.
Doha, Qatar
Osama bin Laden is alive and will soon make a new video, an al Qaida spokesman said on a tape broadcast by the Qatar TV station Al Jazeera this week. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith said that bin Laden henchman Ayman al-Zawahiri and Taliban leader Mullah Omar were also well. “I can say that 98 percent of al Qaida leaders escaped unhurt, Allah be praised, and they are running things in the best possible way,” he said. A bin Laden message would be broadcast on July 4, he said. “America should get ready and fasten its seat belt. We will come to them from where they least expect.”
