1. Henry Cavill out as Superman weeks after announcing, 'I am back as Superman'
Who knew DC stood for "dismiss Cavill"? Henry Cavill is out as Superman in the DC universe less than two months after triumphantly returning. New DC boss James Gunn announced he's personally writing a Superman film, and it will be "focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life," so "the character will not be played by Henry Cavill." This is despite the fact that Black Adam featured a cameo by Cavill that strongly suggested he was now permanently back as Superman. Oh, and then Cavill explicitly told fans, "I am back as Superman," claiming "what you saw in Black Adam" was just a "very small taste of things to come." Actually, no. Cavill has now confirmed the "sad news" that he "will, after all, not be returning as Superman" after "being told by the studio to announce my return back in October." Well, at least he didn't just quit another job on Netflix or anything like that … right?
2. 'Buffy' star Sarah Michelle Gellar recalls 'extremely toxic male set'
She is the slayer … of toxic masculinity. In a roundtable with The Wrap, Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar recounted how "for so long, I was on a set that I think was known for being an extremely toxic male set." Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy, has faced allegations of abusive behavior, with Gellar's former co-star Charisma Carpenter previously claiming he created "toxic work environments since his early career." During the roundtable, Gellar noted that from this terrible experience, it "was ingrained in my head that that was what all sets were like, and that women were pitted against each other." But after working with "so many more women and men that support women," she realized "how easy an experience it can be." Gellar didn't technically specify she was talking about the Buffy set, but that's probably a safe assumption — unless some damaging allegations about Scooby-Doo are about to come to light.

3. Beyoncé texted Meghan Markle after Oprah interview, doc reveals
All the ex-royal ladies, put your hands up. The second and final part of Netflix's documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has debuted, and it features Harry alleging Prince William screamed at him, claiming the palace put out a statement with his name on it without his permission, and more. But it also features a serious flex from Meghan when she gets a text from Beyoncé on camera. This was after Harry and Meghan's bombshell Oprah interview, and Meghan says Beyoncé told her "she admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed." Harry seems quite excited when the text comes through, and Meghan notes, "I still can't believe she knows who I am." Royal family ties may come and go, but membership in the BeyHive lasts forever.
4. CNN cancels Stanley Tucci's show
The search is over. Stanley Tucci's Emmy-winning food and travel show Searching for Italy has been canceled by CNN after two seasons. He confirmed the news on The Tonight Show just after Jimmy Fallon spent about two entire minutes passionately raving about the series. "Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we'll end up on another streamer, network," he said. The show saw Tucci explore Italy and eat lots of delicious food. But its cancellation comes amid a wave of cutbacks at CNN, which was affected by the same WarnerMedia Discovery merger that led to the Batgirl cancellation, the memory-holing of Westworld, and more. The stars … they're having their lives upended by media consolidation just like us! Tucci says he still "plans to do season three and more" despite no longer having a network home. But if he's looking for one that isn't in at least some state of disarray these days, he may be searching for a while.

5. Nick Jonas surprises his biggest fan, 'The White Lotus' star Haley Lu Richardson
Never meet your heroes … unless it's live on a late-night show. The White Lotus star Haley Lu Richardson discussed her lifelong obsession with the Jonas Brothers, and particularly Nick Jonas, on James Corden's show, only for Jonas to surprise her on FaceTime. "Oh my god, I'm so scared," an overwhelmed Richardson said as Jonas appeared, seeming on the verge of tears. "I'm having a physical panic reaction." After Jonas revealed he "just finished" The White Lotus, she nervously professed her love for him, saying he'll be a "huge part" of her "life forever." Earlier, she recounted once making a tie to give Jonas during a meet-and-greet, and while he said he "may or may not" still have it, he invited her to bring "another tie" to one of his shows, "and I will make sure that it gets to me." It was such an incredible experience for Richardson, it almost made up for having to hang out with James Corden.
