A French photographer breaths new life into his timeless treasures




Julien MauveIn the resulting project, Back to Childhood, Mauve used family and friends as his models and let everyone indulge in the nostalgia. And by cleverly juxtaposing the vintage toys with the often mundane, sometimes morose, realities of adulthood, Mauve gives his work an irresistible edge.Because the toys are instantly familiar — whether you played with them decades ago, recognize them from Pixar's Toy Story, or have bought them for the next generation of kids ("I was amazed to see one of my kid's friends receiving a Sophie the Giraffe as a gift recently," Mauve said.) — there's something for everyone to love.
