Jose Mourinho may hand teenage defender Diogo Dalot his United debut
BSC Young Boys vs. Manchester United
- What: Champions League group H matchday one
- When: Wednesday 19 September
- Where: Stade de Suisse, Bern, Switzerland
- Kick-off time: 8pm (UK time)
- TV channel: BT Sport 2
The Metro reports that Jose Mourinho could hand Diogo Dalot his Manchester United debut against BSC Young Boys on Wednesday night.
Dalot, who is 19, signed from Porto in the summer but because of a knee surgery he has had to wait to make his first-team bow. The £19m signing proved his fitness after playing 90 minutes for United’s Under-23 team against Reading last week.
After a poor start to the season, Mourinho’s side have bounced back with Premier League away victories at Burnley and Watford. The United boss will be confident ahead of the trip to Switzerland for the Champions League group H opener.

Artificial pitch
Bern-based Young Boys play on an artificial pitch but boss Gerardo Seoane doesn’t believe it will pose too many problems for United, even though Mourinho believes it’s a disadvantage for the visiting side.
Seoane told the Daily Mail: “We can’t change the pitch. It’s clear they are not used to pitches like this, so in the beginning it will be a special feeling. But with training and the warm-up, I think they will be alright. They have the quality, speed and technique to play on this pitch. So I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.”
In the other group H fixture Spanish side Valencia take on Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo (8pm).
BSC Young Boys vs. Man Utd team news
Mourinho has confirmed to the club’s website that Luke Shaw will be named in his starting XI. The Daily Telegraph reports that right-back Antonio Valencia may be rested, with Dalot or Ashley Young filling in.
The Manchester Evening News says England striker Marcus Rashford could start up-front in a 4-3-3 formation.
Midfielders Jordan Lotomba (knee injury) and Sandro Lauper (ankle injury) are likely to miss out for the Swiss side. Young Boys could call up winger Miralem Sulejmani, who has returned from concussion.
