BBC TV 'TOO FORMULAIC' SAY TRUSTEESBBC Television's daytime output is too "formulaic and derivative" and has become dominated by "collectables hunting" and property shows, according to the BBC Trust, which oversees programming quality on behalf of licence fee payers. The Trust has given programme controllers a one-year deadline to make improvements and introduce more current affairs and drama. BP 'DID NOT PUT PROFITS ABOVE SAFETY'The man leading the presidential commission investigating the Gulf of Mexico oil spill said yesterday that he had found no evidence that BP or any of its partners in the Macondo well had put profits ahead of safety. Fred Bartlit said in a preliminary report: "We have not seen a single instance where a human being made a conscious decision to favour dollars over safety." PULP REFORM FOR 2011 SUMMER GIGSJarvis Cocker and the rest of the line-up from the Britpop band Pulp, last seen together in 1996, are to reform for two concerts next summer - Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival on May 27 and London¹s Wireless Festival on July 3. Cocker has previously said he "couldn't really see the point" of a reunion. Tickets go on sale from Friday. Jarvis reforms Pulp for 2011 concerts AMANDA KNOX FACES SLANDER TRIALAmanda Knox, the 23-year-old Seattle student jailed in Perugia for murdering her housemate Meredith Kercher, is said by her lawyer to be "extremely sad and worried" after a judge ruled on Monday that she must now face trial for slander. This is because she accused police officers of slapping her in the course of her interrogation - which they deny. Knox told the judge: "I didn't mean to offend or slander anybody... I was only trying to defend myself." Amanda Knox in court for slandering police TRAIN OVERCROWDING WILL GET WORSE, SAY MPS Rail commuters face "substantial increases in already unacceptable overcrowding levels" by 2014, according to a report by the Commons public accounts committee. Chairman Margaret Hodge complained that there was no incentive for the rail industry to supply extra capacity without additional public subsidy. She said that in future the Department of Transport should require operators "to take measures themselves to avoid overcrowding and to meet the costs of doing so". STILL CHASING TIGER'S TAILThree of the women who claim to be former mistresses of Tiger Woods - Joslyn James, Jamie Jungers and Holly Sampson - plan to attend next month's Tiger Woods Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, California, according to the TMZ gossip site. Two of them plan to have "new boobs" in time for the charity tournament which Tiger was unable to attend last year - for reasons they know all about.
