LONDON RIOTS: CAMERON recalls parliamentPrime Minister David Cameron has recalled parliament to deal with the London riots, which entered their third night yesterday and spread to other major cities. Cameron said police numbers on London streets tonight would be nearly tripled to 16,000. At least 225 people have been arrested amid accusations that the police have abandoned the streets to looters. Forensic tests are expected to confirm that it had not been fired. Sky News reports that the officer who shot Duggan had not claimed that Duggan shot at him, but that he believed his life was in danger. Mark Duggan: gangster, family man, or both? A Brazilian police operation in the region resulted in the arrest of a Portuguese man, but arrows from the tribe were found among the smugglers' backpacks. Prosecutors are expected to drop criminal charges after losing confidence in Diallo as a witness. Maid sues Strauss-Kahn for ‘violent, sadistic’ attack LOCAL TV LICENCES UP FOR GRABSLicenses to run the UK's first local TV services will be awarded next year and 65 towns and cities are in the running to be awarded. CAPTAIN MORGAN'S TREASURE SHIP 'FOUND' OFF PANAMAThe wreckage of a vessel believed to be 17th-century buccaneer Captain Morgan's flagship Satisfaction has been found off Panama by archaeologists from Texas State University. The find includes "numerous" intact cargo boxes and coral-encrusted chests. Any treasure will go to Panama. pistorius TO COMPETE IN world ATHLeTICS CHAMps Oscar Pistorius, the 'Blade Runner', will become the first amputee athlete to compete at the able-bodied World Championships after being named in South Africa's squad.
