1. 'UP TO 10,000 KILLED' BY PHILIPPINES TYPHOON

As many as 10,000 people may have died after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the central Philippine province of Leyte, according to a police chief. One of the worst storms on record, Haiyan destroyed homes, schools and an airport in the eastern city of Tacloban. Half a million people in Vietnam are fleeing their homes ahead of the storm's expected arrival.
