1. BELGIUM TERROR PLOT AIMED AT POLICE

Two suspected Islamist militants shot dead during a police raid in the Belgian town of Verviers yesterday evening were part of a jihadist group planning attacks on police, say the authorities. Guns, explosives, police uniforms and money were seized in a series of raids and 15 people have been arrested in Belgium and France. The dead men are said to have fired on police.
