1. Kim Kardashian recreates Legally Blonde for Halloween
You have to give Kim Kardashian credit: When she commits to a Halloween costume, she really commits. This year, Kardashian didn't just dress up as Elle Woods, the character played by Reese Witherspoon in 2001's Legally Blonde — she did a shot-for-shot remake of the Harvard Law admissions video from the original movie, which Witherspoon herself was quick to praise on Instagram. Next year, it's Reese's turn to put on a wig and shoot 17 seasons of Keeping Up with the Witherspoons.
2. The great Game of Thrones coffee cup mystery has been solved
It's safe to say the final season of Game of Thrones had a few problems, but you have to give it credit for sparking at one least riveting storyline: Which cast member left a coffee cup on set during a big scene, in what was either an embarrassing mistake or a shocking revelation that Westeros has a Starbucks? Via star Emilia Clarke, we finally have an answer. On an appearance on The Tonight Show, the Mother of Dragons claimed that Conleth Hill, who played the slippery advisor Varys, pulled her aside at a party and admitted he was responsible. "I'm sorry, darling, I didn't want to say anything because it seemed the heat was very much on you," confessed Hill — come on, it wouldn't be Game of Thrones without at least one last backstab.

3. Ewan McGregor was too scared to watch The Shining
In next month's Doctor Sleep, Ewan McGregor will play Danny Torrance, the grownup son of Jack Nicholson's character in 1980's The Shining. There was just one problem: McGregor had specifically avoided watching The Shining because he was afraid of it. "It took me years to watch The Shining because I'd just heard it was so scary," McGregor confessed. Fortunately, he steeled himself to watch it before he started filming Doctor Sleep, because all work and no play makes Ewan a dull boy.
4. The Game of Thrones guys were planning to make some new Star Wars prequels
Now that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have officially left the Star Wars franchise, details about what could have been are starting to trickle out. The duo's idea for a new Star Wars trilogy would have been set before the events of the main Star Wars franchise, and would have explored "how the Jedi came to exist" — because if The Phantom Menace taught us anything, it's that Star Wars is way more interesting when you laboriously explain where everything came from.

5. Jennifer Garner is incredibly committed to her Halloween costume gag
In May, while delivering the graduation address at Ohio's Denison University, actress Jennifer Garner dropped a curious piece of advice: "When it comes to Halloween costumes, go funny over sexy. Why would you dress like a flirty nurse when you could be a mailbox?" And if that sounds extremely, bafflingly specific, it's because this suggestion was not hypothetical. Garner debuted her Halloween costume on Instagram, which, indeed, is a USPS box overflowing with mail — proving, as always, that Garner knows exactly how and when to push the envelope.
