Donald Trump issues expanded travel ban
North Korea, Venezuela and Chad are added to US President’s list of banned nations

Donald Trump has issued a new ban on travel to the US, expanding the list of countries facing restrictions to include North Korea, Venezuela and Chad.
“The new restrictions, replacing his previous order that expired on Sunday, apply to five of the six countries covered by the previous travel ban - Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen,” The Wall Street Journal reports.
It lifts restrictions placed on Sudan in the earlier versions of Trump’s plan.

“North Korea does not cooperate with the United States Government in any respect and fails to satisfy all information-sharing requirements,” Trump said. “As president, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people.”
The presence on the revised list "of North Korea and Venezuela broadens the restrictions from the original, mostly Muslim-majority list,” the ABC says.
The restrictions, which will come into force on 18 October, range in severity from country to country. A full travel ban is still in place for Syria, but the suspension of non-immigrant visas to citizens for Venezuela applies only to senior government officials and their immediate families.
