Pictures: F1 reach agreement to host Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium
Miami is set to be added to the Formula 1 race calendar from 2021
Formula 1 and Hard Rock Stadium have reached an agreement for the hosting of the new Miami Grand Prix.
South Florida will be added to the F1 calendar from 2021 and designs for the Miami GP circuit layout have been revealed on social media. Hard Rock Stadium is the home ground for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.
In a joint statement Tom Garfinkel, Hard Rock Stadium vice chairman and CEO, and Sean Bratches, F1’s managing director of commercial operations, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Formula One and Hard Rock Stadium have reached an agreement in principle to host the first-ever Formula One Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium.

“With an estimated annual impact of more than $400m [£313.6m] and 35,000 room nights, the Formula One Miami Grand Prix will be an economic juggernaut for South Florida each and every year.
“We are deeply grateful to our fans, elected officials and the local tourism industry for their patience and support throughout this process.
“We look forward to bringing the greatest racing spectacle on the planet for the first time to one of the world’s most iconic and glamorous regions.”
The Miami Grand Prix will join the United States Grand Prix on the F1 schedule. The US GP is held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
