Three months remain of the current season but Jurgen Klopp has already begun planning for the 2016-17 campaign. According to Caughtoffside.com, the Liverpool gaffer knows "that the team needs to undergo a serious roster overhaul" if they're to have a serious shot at the title.
"Yes we are planning for next season," Klopp is quoted as saying. "We have to wait for the right decision and we have to think about a lot of things."

Among players linked with Anfield are Mario Gotze, Ilkay Gundogan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but when asked to name names, the former Borussia Dortmund boss replied: "There is nothing to say yet. It is not I can say that we are close to this decision or that decision."
But one decision that has been made, "in principle", according to Metro, concerns Joao Teixeira. Apparently the 23-year-old winger, who is out of contract in the summer, has agreed terms with Fiorentina and the Italian club will bring him to Italy when he leaves Anfield.
And Metro also claims that Gonzalo Higuain "has an offer on the table" from Liverpool this summer. Currently scoring goals for Napoli, Higuain’s future is under scrutiny after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis labelled him fat in a recent press conference.
Metro, citing Spanish outlet Fichajes as its source, says Higuain is carefully considering his options, if not his calories.
Finally, the Daily Star says that the Red have received a "boost" from Granit Xhaka with his reiteration that he wants a taste of the Premier League. The 23-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder is known to be on Klopp's radar, and in conversation with German website Sport1.de, the Swiss playmaker declared: "Everybody has a childhood dream, and for me it is England... I'm extremely happy here and everything suits me down to the ground but you do have to take a look around and talk with the club."
According to the German media, Liverpool will make an approach for Xhaka in the summer although Monchengladbach are said to be reluctant to sell the player who joined them from Basel in 2012.
Liverpool transfer news: no Caceres as Klopp plans clear out
01 March
Having lost out on the league cup to Manchester City on Sunday are Liverpool also set to miss the boat on Juventus defender Martin Caceres?
The Daily Express thinks so, and the paper reports that the Uruguay international, who had been expected to leave Turin in the summer, is poised to "begin contract talks" with the Italian champions and could yet stay.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, the 28-year-old had been linked with a move to Anfield but the Express - taking its cue from Italian news outlet Tuttosport - says that the South American is reconsidering his options. That will come as bad news for Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp, who is "keen" on adding Caceres to his squad.
He's currently sidelined with a ruptured Achilles tendon but it's reported that Juventus are looking to reassure him that he is still very much part of their plans for next season.
Whatever happens with Caceres, Klopp "will ring mass changes at Anfield" this summer, says The Sun, after concluding that the current squad is not up to scratch. First for the chop, alleges the paper, will be Christian Benteke, the £32.5m flop from Aston Villa who hasn't made the grade on Merseyside.
Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno are also expected to be sold, while the Sun says among the players Klopp has his eyes on are Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Gotze and Leicester left back Ben Chilwell.
Liverpool transfer news: Man City to scupper new keeper deal
29 February
Not content with hijacking Liverpool's hopes of a first trophy under Jurgen Klopp, Manchester City are also preparing to sabotage their efforts to land a new goalkeeper, says the Daily Express.
Liverpool have been eyeing Barcelona stopper, but their £19m raid on the Camp Nou could be derailed by City, who are also keen on the German international - despite the heroics of second-string goalkeeper Willy Caballero at Wembley on Sunday.
"The Reds have reportedly made a £19m bid for the shot-stopper, but according to Spanish publication Don Balon, City have offered a higher amount in the region of £23.6m," reports the Express.
Could Schalke turn out to be a happier hunting ground for Klopp? Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign defender Joel Matip at the end of the season and now there are reports they are about to join the race for his sought-after team-mate Leroy Sane, who is being pursued by some of Europe's biggest clubs.
"Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Sane regularly over the past few months and have been given enough promising feedback to tempt them to launch a bid for the youngster," reports the Daily Mirror.
The teenager will not come cheap however, and a bidding war could send his price rocketing to more than £30m.
Liverpool transfer news: Reds scout keeper Antonio Adan
26 February
After a newly fit Daniel Sturridge pledged his future to Liverpool, there is no need for manager Jurgen Klopp to concern himself with finding a new striker in the immediate future. But he is still thought to be hunting for options to shore up the Reds' leaky rearguard.
While Klopp has publicly backed goalkeeper Simon Mignolet this season, most Anfield fans are clamouring for reinforcements between the sticks and Sport Witness is the first to pick up on fresh reports in Spain linking Liverpool with Real Betis keeper Antonio Adan (pictured above), who Jose Mourinho once picked ahead of Iker Casillas when he was manager of Real Madrid.
"Betis are very worried about Adan's buyout clause, which is only €8m," says the website. "That works out to be not too much over £6m and [Spanish newspaper] Marca think it's a snip for Premier League clubs, an amount they could pay without too much concern."
Elsewhere, it is reported that the Reds are keen on Lazio's Antonio Candreva and are prepared to battle Chelsea for his signature.
The 28-year-old winger looks set to leave the Serie A side at the end of the season and is believed to be keen on a Premier League move, reports Metro. The fee could be an issue, however, with Lazio demanding £23.6m for his signature.
Liverpool transfer news: Teixeira still dreaming of Anfield
25 February
Liverpool missed out on signing Brazilian Alex Teixeira in January and could only watch as he signed a big-money deal with Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning.
But that might not be the end of the saga, reports the Liverpool Echo, which reports that a close friend of the player believes he still dreams of playing at Anfield.
Brazilian midfielder Josef de Souza told Brazilian TV that Teixeira (pictured above) was "totally willing" to move to the Premier League but when the deal foundered, was left with a choice about what to do.
"Our career is very short and if you can combine one thing with another - play in a good league and earn money - that's great," he said. "But if you can’t put the two together, it is obvious that filling your pockets will speak much louder."
He added that Teixeira still has ambitions "in his heart" to play in the Premier League, which suggests he could one day be persuaded to leave China, once he has made enough money.
Meanwhile, Mario Balotelli's footballing odyssey could be about to begin a new chapter after reports AC Milan were preparing to make his move from Liverpool permanent, despite the fact he has made only 12 appearances this season and scored just two goals.
Granted, that his a better return than he managed at Liverpool, but it still comes as something of a surprise to hear Milan president Silvio Berlusconi tell Italian TV: "We'd be very happy to make a financial sacrifice and keep him here with us."
In his defence, the Liverpool "flop" has "struggled with form and injuries" since his return to Italy, says website FootballFanCast.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been given a boost in their courting of Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho after the Daily Express reported the Spanish club could be forced to sell him for just £4m.
Camacho has a £15.7m release clause in his contract, adds the paper, but "Malaga are in desperate need of funds" and could do business for much less.
Liverpool transfer news: £7m for midfielder Ignacio Camacho
24 February
Liverpool are stepping up their courtship of Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho, according to the Daily Star.
Reports earlier in the month speculated the 25-year-old defensive midfielder was being eyed up by the Reds and it was even claimed he had "jetted to Liverpool and toured the club's training ground". Now the Star says Liverpool scouts watched Camacho in action against Real Madrid last weekend and the reports back to Jurgen Klopp have convinced the German to "open talks" with Malaga.
It's believed the Spanish outfit want a fee in the region of £7m, which is well within the Reds budget and which will result in Camacho providing competition for Emre Can and Marco Grujic in the squad.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror says that Klopp has tied Kevin Stewart to the club with a new four-year deal. The 22-year-old, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, is enjoying his breakthrough season at Anfield and the Mirror says he's "impressed" his manager so much, Klopp's just agreed to extend his contract until 2019.
Stewart's previous contract was due to expire at the end of the season.
Liverpool transfer news: Gotze and Subotic next on the list
19 February
Yesterday it was a striker, Javier Hernandez, and today it's a midfielder and defender linked to Liverpool.
Hot on the heels of Javier Hernandez's possible move to Anfield, comes news from Talksport concerning Mario Gotze. The Bayern Munich midfielder, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, is likely to be released at the end of the season and it looks like it will be a straight shootout between Juventus and the Reds for his signature.
Talksport report that Liverpool "are very keen" on Gotze and are confident he could be tempted to sign because of the presence of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. The pair worked together at Dortmund and the 23-year-old Gotze is said to regard the Liverpool boss as a father figure.
However, Italian media outlet Calciomercato says that Juventus "hope they can trump Liverpool's offer with the prospect of Champions League football", a carrot that right now looks beyond the reach of the Reds.
Meanwhile, might Borussia Dortmund sell Neven Subotic to Liverpool for £4m? Talksport is again first off the mark with the story and the broadcaster says that the 27-year-old is struggling for game time at Dortmund and feels the time is right for a fresh start.
Again, the Dortmund connection could sway it for Klopp, with the centre-back a regular when he was managing the German outfit. Liverpool are "frontrunners for Subotic's signature" but reports from Germany claim that Hamburg might make a bid of their own.
Liverpool transfer news: is Hernandez news a blow or boost?
18 February
What are Liverpool's chances of signing Javier Hernandez this summer? It depends very much on who you ask, after comments from his current club, Bayer Leverkusen, were interpreted as both a "blow" and a "boost" for the Reds.
Asked about the Mexican striker's future, Leverkusen chief executive Michael Schade said he did not want to sell any player, but added: "We are a commercial company and there are thresholds. If such exorbitant bids come in, we will examine them and see what they bring us."
That amounts to a "huge boost" for Liverpool and Arsenal, who are also said to be interested, according to the Daily Star. It interprets his comments to mean the club "will examine huge offers for their star man".
But not everyone has taken his words in the same way. The Daily Mirror says Liverpool "have been dealt a blow" in their pursuit of Hernandez as Leverkusen will only listen to "exorbitant" bids.
However, the same paper is anxious to link the Reds to midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who has reportedly refused to talk about extending his deal at Borussia Dortmund, which expires at the end of next season.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was formerly manager of Dortmund and has, therefore, been linked with many of their players since arriving at Anfield. With Gundogan likely to be sold in the summer unless he agrees to a contract extension, he is tipped by the Mirror for a reunion with Klopp on Merseyside.
Liverpool transfer news: Nordtveit, Gundogan and Adan are next
17 February
With defender Joel Matip in the bag and former Arsenal man Havard Nordtveit also expected to sign in the next few weeks, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is still on the lookout for more fresh talent.
The latest name on the Reds boss's list is that of Real Betis's goalkeeper Antonio Adan. The Liverpool Echo has been reading the Spanish press and picks up on reports in AS that there is a £6.2m release clause in the 28-year-old's contract. The stopper is a graduate of the Real Madrid academy and has already caught the eye of other Premier League scouts, adds the Echo.
The paper also carries positive news on the pursuit of Nordtveit. The 25-year-old has yet to commit to his current club, Borussia Monchengladbach, and their sporting director, Max Eberl, told Bild: "We made him a very, very good offer and I am still optimistic... but when it comes to the money, we have no chance [against the Premier League]."
It's been a while since any of the Premier League big guns have been linked with Ilkay Gundogan but now the transfer window is closed, anything goes as far as gossip is concerned - and that means the German midfielder is once again on course for a move to the Premier League.
Gundogan has so far refused to discuss extending his contract with Borussia Dortmund, reports Talksport. His deal ends in 2017 and some reports in Germany even suggest he has ruled out an extension.
The news has put Liverpool, among others, on alert, says the broadcaster. Klopp was Gundogan's boss at Dortmund and is said to be eager for a reunion at Anfield.
