Liverpool transfer news: Sturridge and Benteke head for exit

The Uruguayan is widely expected to leave for the Premier League in the summer - with Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs among those battling for his signature - and PSG have identified Sturridge as the man to replace him in Paris.
It's reported that the French club "are sending a delegation to London on Tuesday" - the night England play Holland at Wembley - to talk with Sturridge's representatives about a move across the Channel.
Liverpool are said to be reluctant to sell but a fee of £50m could weaken their resolve and allow manager Jurgen Klopp to bring in a raft of reinforcements for next season.
Meanwhile it looks unlikely that Klopp will be receiving an Easter egg from Christian Benteke after the Reds frontman vented his frustration at the way things have turned out for him at Anfield. The Daily Mirror reports that Benteke, who joined from Aston Villa last summer in a £32.5m deal when Brendan Rodgers was still boss, is fed up with his lack of game time since Klopp took charge in October.
“What's annoying me the most is that I would have never signed for Liverpool if I wasn't the manager's first choice,” explained Benteke, who's made just six starts under Klopp. “I've never been on the bench for such a long period. It hurts, especially since I never was as fit as I am now."
Benteke added that he finds it "difficult to understand" his omission from the starting line-up, although The Guardian explains that the striker "does not suit Klopp's high-energy, high-pressing style of play". But whatever the reason, said the paper, Benteke's comments have "accelerated his likely departure" from Anfield this summer.
Liverpool transfer news: Skrtel for the chop in clearout
22 March
Will Jurgen Klopp give Martin Skrtel the chop in the summer? The Daily Star believes so with the paper claiming the Liverpool gaffer is going to be ruthless in the months ahead as he sets about clearing out the dead wood at Anfield.
Apparently the Slovakian, who arrived at Anfield in 2008, is under the greatest threat with Klopp considering that the 31-year-old is now past his prime. The Star says that Joel Matip, the 24-year-old Schalke defender who will arrive in the summer, will slot into the heart of the Liverpool defence and that is likely to mean the end for Skrtel, who endured a nightmare return from injury at the weekend as the Reds slumped defeat against Southampton
In addition the Star says left-back Jose Enrique is also on his way out as Klopp starts to rebuild his defence. And that could entail the acquisition of Hoffenheim centre-back Niklas Sule, who according to website Goal.com, "has attracted the attention" of Klopp.
The 20-year-old Sule, a star for the Germany Under-21 side, has been in outstanding form this season for Hoffenheim and Bild newspaper claims that "initial contact" has been established between the Reds and Sule's representatives with a view to a summer move to Anfield.
Liverpool transfer news: Flanagan deal, Fernando to follow
18 March
Talks are progressing well between Liverpool and Jon Flanagan says Talksport, which predicts that the homegrown defender "could sign a three-year contract before the end of the week".
The broadcaster described negotiations between Flanagan's agent and Reds chief executive Ian Ayre as "advanced" with the 23-year-old defender making no secret of his desire to stay loyal to his boyhood club.
Flanagan's current deal expires at the end of the season but having proved his full recovery from a nasty knee injury this season, the man the Kop call "the Scouse Cafu" is close to penning a new deal with the Merseysiders.
Liverpool are also being linked with a £10m swoop for Manchester City enforcer Fernando, who is expected to be offloaded when Pep Guardiola arrives at the Etihad in the summer.
According to The Sun, Klopp is "monitoring the situation" with Fernando and will attempt to "hijack" Porto's efforts to sign him.
Another summer arrival could be Paris Saint Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe. The Liverpool Echo picks up on claims across the Channel that the Reds are "big admiriers" of the French Under-21 star. However, the paper also reports that they will have to fight local rivals Everton for his hand.
Liverpool transfer news: Serie A keeper is summer target
17 March
It's going to take a lot of wonga if Liverpool want to prise goalkeeper Mattia Perin from Genoa. The Italian shotstopper has been identified by Reds gaffer Jurgen Klopp as a key summer target as he looks for a gloveman to challenge Simon Mignolet for the number one jersey at Anfield.
According to Talksport, Liverpool have "been chasing the 23-year-old for over a year", but their interest is set to intensify as the summer transfer window nears. However, Perin's agent issued a warning to the Reds during a chat with broadcaster Radio CRC.
Asked about the shotstopper's future, Matteo Roggi replied: "I hope that Perin can play for a big club. He's had 120 appearances in Serie A and is the youngest goalkeeper to have had so much experience. If Genoa sell him they won't give him away, he'll only leave for a big offer."
Although Roggi was tight-lipped on what represented a big offer, the Daily Express predicts the figure will likely rise at the end of the season, given that Manchester United are also monitoring Perin as a possible replacement for David de Gea.
Liverpool transfer news: Erkin snub as Sinclair heads for exit
16 March
It's a losing game for Liverpool as far as Fenerbahce defender Caner Erkin goes with Talksport reporting that the 27-year-old hardman "is set to snub interest" from the Reds and head instead to Inter Milan.
Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp has been tracking the Turkish delight for weeks - and at one time Chelsea were also linked with him - but Corriere dello Sport claims the English clubs can kiss their chances of landing him goodbye.
The Italian rag says that "Inter are close to agreeing a three-year deal with the player" and Fenerbahce are reluctantly accepting that they will not be able to persuade the left-back to stay loyal. Erkin is allegedly refusing "to enter negotiations with his current employers" and consequently will head to the San Siro at the end of this season.
And someone else heading off on a new adventure is Jerome Sinclair. Metro reports that the 19-year-old Liverpool striker has "agreed a pre-contract deal" with Watford and will link up with the Hornets in the summer. The teenager hit the headlines earlier in the season when he refused to commit long-term to the Merseyside club, Metro says this attitude "frustrated" Reds manager Jurgen Klopp who has now agreed to release Sinclair when he existing contract expires in May. The news will be a blow to Aston Villa, also believed to have been tailing Sinclair, but who lose out because of their expected demotion to the Championship.
Liverpool transfer news: £30m swoop for Oxlade-Chamberlain
15 March
Signing Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is "a top priority" for Jurgen Klopp this summer. So claims the Daily Star, which adds that the Liverpool boss is planning an "audacious raid" on the Emirates and is tracking the Ox's contract negotiations with the Gunners.
Arsenal are "desperate" to keep the England international, who is entering the final two years of his £65,000-per-week deal, adds the paper, but Oxlade-Chamberlain is beginning to wonder if his career wouldn't be better served by a move away from the Emirates and the dog days of the Arsene Wenger era.
The 22-year-old has started just nine Premier League games this season and is allegedly unhappy at his limited opportunities under the elderly French manager. Though Manchester United, West Ham and Chelsea are known to be interested in the Ox, the Star claims that Liverpool will likely "go head-to-head with Manchester City for his services" with a bid in the region of £30m likely to be enough to convince Arsenal to sell.
