The number of recorded coronavirus cases around the world raced past two million this week, with the virus not yet at its peak in many countries, including the UK.
De facto leader Dominic Raab has extended the UK lockdown for a minimum of three weeks, saying: “There is light at the end of the tunnel but we are now at both a delicate and a dangerous stage in this pandemic.”
A team of Cambridge University biosecurity and conservation experts has put together a list of 275 suggestions to reduce the spread of the virus after lockdown is eased. Included on the list are stopping pet cats from roaming outdoors and suggesting that people walk clockwise around parks at specific times of the day, depending on their age.

ITV drama The Quiz has offered some escapism for television viewers across the country. “Quiz people baffle me almost as much as sex people,” says Lucy Mangan in The Guardian. “It seemed to me that to enter with the apparent intention of cheating and walking away with the top prize is much more sensible than entering a quiz under any other conditions. Not more admirable, obviously. But much more sensible.”
