So far this year, more than 40,000 young people in care have benefited from the Government's new Junior Isa scheme, operated by The Share Foundation. It opens the accounts with £200 from the DfE, provides financial education, and raises additional voluntary contributions to boost their value for example, from City foundations. Each month The Share Foundation awards £1,000 to the young person with the best proposals for using the money at 18: first winners include a 15-year-old who wants to run a mobile hairdresser, an aspiring civil engineer, and a young entrepreneur who wants to set up a shop in Huddersfield. More than 40% of these young people are aged 15-17 with no family support. The Share Foundation urgently needs contributors will you help?
