Supreme Court refuses to hear BP lawsuit over Gulf oil spill

The Supreme Court on Monday said it would not hear oil giant BP's legal challenge that sought to limit the amount of money the company must pay out over the 2010 Gulf oil spill.

BP claimed that people and businesses who weren't directly impacted by the oil spill were trying to cash in on its multi-billion dollar 2012 settlement. In May, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected that argument, prompting BP to appeal to the Supreme Court.
