Federal judge strikes down Montana gay marriage ban

The U.S. District Court in Montana on Wednesday lifted the state's ban on same-sex marriage. In his ruling, Judge Brian Morris wrote that the ban denied same-sex couples equal protection under the law, and imposed "disfavored legal status" on them.

With the ruling, 34 states now allow gay couples to wed.
