Mourners honor those lost on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17
Friends and relatives gathered in Amsterdam on Monday to remember those lost in the tragic accident on July 17. Of the plane's 298 passengers, 196 were from the Netherlands.
During the ceremony, relatives read the victims' names in a moving tribute. Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Dutch King Willem-Alexander were among the event's attendees, and the Netherlands flew flags at half mast. The memorial included 298 candles in remembrance of the victims.
Rutte said that the memorial would provide "a chance for the Netherlands to show the next-of-kin that they are not standing alone."
