Marvel on Tuesday announced that the third installment in the wildly popular Avengers franchise, Infinity War, will be split into two parts. The first installment is due out in May 2018, with the second part coming the following May. (But first, Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out in May 2015.)
In a much-hyped unveiling, Marvel also teased the release of several other in-development action films, including a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, slated for May 2017, and Doctor Strange, scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016. On Monday, several sources reported that Benedict Cumberbatch would play the titular character in the latter film.
The slew of forthcoming flicks also includes Marvel's first to feature a black superhero — Black Panther, due out in late 2017 — and Captain Marvel, its first with a female lead.
